multi-coin holder

So I just got a call form PCGS asking if it was okay to charge my CC (the pre-recorded amount) and also they said they would honor the request to put the 4 piece plat 2006-W in a muti-coin holder giving it the 1st strike designation and they are all MS-69 (can't complain too much). I think that's pretty cool they will put it in a multi-coin holder, what do you guys think?

did you request on your submission form for them to be put in a multi holder?

If so, what would happen if some are 69's and some are 70?

I requested that if they all graded the same then if they could to put it in a multi-coin holder, if not then make them individual holders.

I like the multi-coin holder for modern coin sets.

Multicoin holders are cool for display, but I think they'll suffer at resale time. Better to have each coin sold individually, methinks...

I think that depends on the set. I have sold in the past the 2 and 3 coin Wisconsin High/Low Leaf multi-coin sets for more than money than sellling them in the individual holders.

I think that this being an inaugural set it might sell better knowing someone can get the whole set at once rather than piece by piece. I guess if I ever sell it I'll let you guys know. I think it's pretty cool to look at the whole set at once. I may sell down the line (in about 18 years when my kid get older to pay for those college books)

Maybe in 18 years you can buy the school with it.

    I like the multi-holders.

The right coins in them can make some very nice looking sets.

If you are thinking of selling in less than 3 years, I would have seperate holders. BUT, if you'll keep them longer, I think the multi holdres are the way to go. Right now some of the denominations are harder to find and command a premium. I think the sets would be harder to sell for top dollar now. After a few years, I think it would be easier to sell a complete set after all the variations come out and the dust selltes. Just my opinion though. Ray

My favorite coin in my collection is an 1851 $20 PCGS MS63 which I bought 6 months ago in a superior auction. About a month ago, I purchased the 1851 $5 PCGS 63 form Heritage. When an 1851 $10 piece becomes available in 63 (not holding my breath with so few out there) I'll try and secure that one as well at which point I'll also pick up the relatively easily gold dollar and quarter eagle in 63.

When I have all 5 coins secured (sometime in 2011 maybe) I'll send them to PCGS and get all 5 in a multi-coin holder... thats the dream anyway...

NGC will list each grade on the label. Not sure if PCGS does it the same way.

If the law of supply and demand works out you probably did the right thing. My initial thought was individual holders would be easier to sell but there probably won't be many of the multi-coin holders out there and all its takes is 2 folks wanting one.

If the the Silver anniversary set is any indication you may do better with the multi-holder. I noticed on E-Bay that NGC sets in multi-holder were going for a significant premium to sets sold in single holders.

Make sure to post a picture to this thread when you get it. It sounds like it will be really cool!

Can someone post a picture of a PCGS multi holder? I see the NGC ones all the time on Shop-At-Home (though I don't own any), but I've never seen a PCGS one -- is this a new thing?
