Would you Notify the Auction Company in this Instance?

Let's say you sold a high grade toned coin several years ago on Ebay and shipped it to the buyer via Fed-Ex fully insured. The coin never shows up and Fed-Ex later admits they somehow misdirected and lost the package and pays the insurance claim.
You now see the exact same coin in the same grade but reholdered (unmistakable unique toning pattern) in a major auction. It's possible that Fed-Ex later found the coin and subsequently sold it, or it's possible the coin was stolen in transit and the current owner (consignor) does not have good title to the coin.
Would you notify the auction company or just forget about it since it was several years ago?

I would notify FedEx. If the property is recoverable, and it's a coin that I wanted, I would offer to buy it back for the amount that the insurance paid out. If the coin has appreciated in value since that time, I would be very nice when I made the offer.

Now that I think about it, this makes more sense than telling the auction company. The auctioneers got their money one way or another, so chances are they won't want to bother pursue anything as there's no money in it. FedEx, having had to pay the claim with ostensibly nothing to show for it, might be more motivated to find a thief in their employ.
