Another ebay seller to watch out for

Seller

What a thief. Look at his feedback, bid history, etc. AU coins sold as MS67, shill bidding, this seller has it all.

There's one in an "MS67" holder that barely looks EF45 to me. Oh, yeah, and he got glowing feedback for it. (Assuming he got himself a real sucker and didn't just play the shill game and leave himself glowing feedback).

P.T. Barnum was right. There is indeed a sucker born every minute. And they'll all congregate on eBay and buy this crap all day long, every day, for years to come. I often wonder where all the bidiots are when I'm selling something. Then again, I wouldn't wanna rip someone that bad... I wouldn't be able to look at myself in the mirror.

Alas, there will always be a contingent of folks without any shame out there. And always plenty of easily-fleeced would-be victims for them to prey upon.

  • I bet WCG TPG are his own homemade slabs. Great way to unload you unwanted coins, buy generic holder and name your own TPG company.

It's an annoying trend, but perhaps eventually the word will get out, and the homemade "grading services" will go the way of the 1980s "coin investment" telemarketers.

    One can only hope.

Of course, the telemarketers just have a new incarnation... on TV.

  • The sad thing is that these bidders will waltz right by any number of legitimate offerings and join the herd of lemmings rushing over the cliff. Imagine some of them waiting eagerly until the last minute to snipe this garbage. If any board members are participating in these frauds and ignoring all the warnings then they will get what they deserve. It is galling to think of the money this guy is fleecing even when he has to sell his $110,000 coin for $37.50.
This is the kind of crap I'm offered all the time at coin shows. When I tell people I'm not interested at any price, they become hurt, angry and argumentive.
Aside from ranting against these crooks here on the forum I can't see anything that can be done to keep these uninformed buyers from pouring their money down the proverbial sewer. DaveW

This example is an excellent demonstration that ebay needs a special unit to help protect buyers interests. It would be a full-time job for a few good people if it were my company. Yes, 401-K would be part of the benefits package.

I contacted eBay about a seller who currently has several counterfeit coins listed. I even provided an explanation as to how the coins can be identified as counterfeit with 100% certainty. Guess what. No response and the auctions are still running (closing soon). I don't get eBay sometimes.

He charges $8 for 1st class mail. That's the racket. Overcharge for postage, deduct seller fees on a return. Even when someone returns a coin, he has made about $6 on a coin that he paid about $15 for.

I'm not sure that the type of person who would bid on this crap is the type who would care about bad feedback, either.
