Guys:
I have someone with a few million dollars in coins they inherited. Many of these coins are in the $50K - to high six digits. What is the best and smartest way to liquidate these slowly. He just wants the money and has no interest in collecting, but of course we want to be able to maximize his net. Next week I am starting with an 1861-S Pauquet, graded AU50 (in a TPS holder, just not PCGS or NGC).
What is the advice of some of the guys who have done these kinds of numbers?

Are his other "$50K to high six digit" coins in third world slabs?
If so, you may be better off having a major dealer (such as Legend or Pinnacle) break the bad news rather than risk putting the coins in a Heritage or Stack's auction and having them bring much lower prices than he expects.

No, most are in PCGS. We will do crossovers wherever they make sense.

Typically if someone inherits very expensive coins like this-they usually also get instructions as to how to dispose of them. Or, they would do the research them self.

This was only part of the inheritance. You should have seen what the other kids got. This is massive and real. A real opportunity to learn a few things and I wanted to know if any of you had any names of trustworthy people. We don't mind people making money, but offers of 50% of book is not acceptable.

I am a collector. He knew me and called me. I told him what the "big boys" were going to do when they got there, and sure enough I called it right. After that he asked me to help him. I told him I would. So that is what I am doing and that is how I figure into it. Nothing really more than that. He just needs someone to help him. This is still a hobby last time I checked.
