Coin Book Library

This year my goal is to build up my library of coin books. So far i have aquired these books:

Breen's Complete Encyclopedia
A Complete Encyclopedia of Silver Dollars & Trade Dollars of the United States (Vol. 1 -- Not really interested in Morgans/Peace Dollars)
Louis E. Eliasberg, Sr., King of Coins
Virgil Brand, The Man and His Era
American Coin Treasures and Hoards
Shield and Liberty Head Nickels - Redbook
Adventures with Rare Coins
Abe Kosoff Remembers
Overton Half Dollar Varieties - 3rd Edition (Finally found it!)
Early Quarter Dollars (Browning)
Liberty Seated Collectors Club (All 4 'collections')
The Redbook
Photograde
Catalogs:
Auction '84
Superior - The Medio/ Da Gomez Collection - My 1873-cc $ was in this one! image
Bowers and Merena Galleries - The Robert W. Schwan Collection Sale

I am looking for more books to add to my collection. I've enjoyed the books on Brand and Eliasberg so i'm considering picking up the Norweb book by bowers. Any other must have books? Also, I have found that I really enjoy reading about coin hoards and famous collections and auctions. Please let me know of any books that you've really enjoyed!

Thanks,
Mark

Great start! You have some really nice titles there. If you do a search of "library" or "coin books" you will find lots of threads on the topic. Bowers' Norweb book is one of my favorites. Also, his Abe Kosoff, Dean of Numismatics is great. There are lots of other books I can suggest, too. Also, do a search of "book review" because I wrote a bunch of reviews of books on these boards.

There are a lot of great books out there. Perhaps you can indicate what your interests are and we can provide more specific suggestions?

In any event, you don't have:

Bust Half Fever, 2nd edition, by Edgar Souders. (He sells this on eBay and it's almost sold out.)

Our own board member, Roger Burdette's two books: Renaissance of American Coins, 1905-1908 and 1916-1921. (The third volume will be out in a year or so.)

Fractional Money by Neil Carothers (If you're interested in how "fractional" [fractions of a dollar] coins were actually used in the 18th and 19th centuries.)

Any of the individual books on Liberty Seated half dimes, dimes, quarters or half dollars.

I like Brooklyn Gallery for their wide selection, discounted prices and fast shipping.

    Mark,

Lately, I have been adding to my numismatic library too. If I were you I would try to find a copy of the Wiley & Bugert book on Liberty Seated half dollars. It's an excellent book.

Thanks for all the replies. I think my next books I will look for are the Bower's books on Abe Kosoff and Norweb and also the Wiley & Bugert book on Liberty Seated half dollars.

The Norweb book by Bowers is great, the Norwebs lived a rather interesting life.

Bowers very first book "Coins and collectors" written when he was in his mid twenties shows his style of writing was developing at
an early age. Should be fairly easy to find used on Ebay.

Rick Snow's The Flying Eagle & Indian Cent Attribution Guide and Van Allen and Mallis' Encyclopedia of Morgan & Peace Dollar Varieties are essential IMO. One or the other is almost always cluttering up my desk.

Rick is going to release some new volumes for his book this year, I hope and pray anyway.

Penny Whimsey is a great book. It's a bit dated, but fascinating to read none the less.
