PCGS crossover question

I’ve never seen this question addressed here.

Does PCGS record the cert numbers on slabs that don’t cross? I can’t see why they wouldn’t. The system would flag them that it had been there and bagged for whatever and it’s a done deal.

This isn’t a crackout post or it’s the coin, not the plastic.

Yes, since they keep a record of the submission form and the cert number is on the form. BTW, the question has been asked before.

If the coin doesn't cross on a crossover submission it comes back in the original holder, so that wouldn't even be a consideration.

If it's in a ANACS slab and you suspect it's made a trip to PCGS it might be best to send it to NGC to cross first.

The graders don't have access to the records of previous submissions so that's not an issue.

That they record the cert. number of attempted crossover coins doesn't seem to matter, because I've had several DNCs get into holders on the second try. One of my latest experiences involved two Morgan VAMs of the same date, both graded AU55 by the same company. I submitted them with a minimum cross grade of AU50... and neither one crossed. I sent them in again, this time with a minimum grade of XF45... and one came back XF45 and the other AU53. Go figure.
    When in doubt, don't.
