Customer du Jour, Jan 10 2007

We have a lot of really nice customers, one in particular is an executive with a large Utah company and passes through town here 2 or 3 times a year. About two visits ago he saw us putting 30-40 Wheat cents in zip lock bags and asked what we were doing. I explained that every year at the local Boy Scout Expo we hand out bags of Wheat cents and old blue Whitman "Penny" albums to the Scouts until we run out. He said he had some Wheat cents and would bring them to us so we could add to our "give-a-way" stash. Well, he showed up today...... 92 pounds of Wheats! And he GAVE them to us! What a great guy to help stimulate coin collecting!

It seems he is also moving away from coin collecting and more into photography. He said he wanted a new system that was about $12,000. (I told him he could get a camera at Wal-Mart for less than $100....) So he left a big box and a large duffle bag full of coins (it was 15 minutes before we closed). He told me to appraise it and just send him a check, saying, "I know you'll be fair" then walked out the door. I took a quick look at the Dansco Lincoln album and it was complete, early stuff all AU or better and 1930 on BU. He had about 30 extra Lincolns in top tier slabs, such as a 09 S VDB in a 66 RD.

Pretty cool day!
