A scammer just sent me an e-mail in a phony e-bay message format referencing a real car auction on ebay motors in Canada. Of course when I clicked on the link for the auction it asked me to log into a phone ebay site. (that's where you have to stop if you don't want your account hijacked)
Here is the obnoxious message:
"Where is my money?? WHY DONT YOU RESPOND ME!??!?! If I dont hear from you in 24 hours, I will contact ebay!!!"
Just another variation on the old phony site to hijack your account scam.

Just kidding, of course!
Way to go, BTW.

If you aren't running spyware then a cookie could be installed that monitors your activity. I have quality spyware on all my machines and I like to see the phony addresses the scammers are using.
Another way to think about this: the scam exists totally outside of the ebay system. always answer messages within the ebay system and you'll be fine. Now recognize that the scam e-mail may mix legitimate links to ebay auctions and pages in with the fake ebay link designed to harvest your login info.
