4 for 4 crossover? :) Edited to say: Copper coins :)

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,790 ✭✭✭✭✭
Looks like I got 4 for 4 on copper crossovers.

I am not selling so the holder wasn't as relevant, but the NGC holders are a bear to try to get toned copper pics out of, so I sent these in when I sent others in as well and asked for crossover (min grade same as what was on the NGC holders) and truview. Not sure of the truview portion yet so I can't show those (figured that way, at least Phil gets to snap a pic when they are raw image ).

Received in shipping dept: 12/11/06
Grades posted & shipped: 1/5/07

Submission # 9060588

Order #20072934 / Submission #9060588
Line # Item # Cert # PCGS No. CoinDate Denomination Variety Country Grade
1 1 10733542 2825 1955 1C Doubled Die Obverse US MS63BN
2 1 10733543 2327 1880 1C US PR64BN
3 1 10733544 2336 1883 1C US PR64BN
4 1 10733545 2333 1882 1C US PR65BN

I'm happy they crossed (no grade increases though, which I was curious on with one of the IHCs)

    question :

Is there any added value in doing such a thing with these coins ?

Come on Bachiman, eveyone know NGC coins are graded 1 point loser than PCGS! and copper is 2 points loser!!! That has to be an error!!!imageimage Just ask Russ, he'll tell you!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

That's what you guys all say.

I got a few of these from Mark Feld so I knew the quality (regardless of holder) was there....just too many damn scratches on the holder and hard to get toned copper image anyway image

2sides.....yes, I imagine there is a little extra value in the PCGS holders.
For one thing, these are toned. PCGS is a bit harsher about "market acceptable" vs NT so I think that would be helped out (though, these aren't "blue" coppers.

Like I said, no intention of selling right now but I did want some nice pics taken and had an order going in anyway.

I've seen these coins. It's one of those very rare ocassions when NGC got the grades right.

Find me some half eagle gold indians graded properly between AU50 and MS 62 and make a believer outta me image 1908-1929.
Now, how about that added value question ?

TY Bochiman.. you answered quick. image I kinda already knew there was added value, especially with the 55DDO image... Nice coins overall, too !

    Thanks for the image Russ!
I am on a biz trip and don't have access to the pics you took.

That is my Mark Feld 55/55 Lincoln....shot in the previous holder.

Unless you happen to have PCGS Registry Set collectors lookin', when the time comes to sell, perhaps.

Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.

    Thanks Rob image

Mozeppa, unless Russ wants to show the ones he imaged for me, I will have to wait until I get Phil's Truview pics sent to me.

I will show them though image

I didn't send all my toned IHCs but just a couple that needed new plastic due to scratches and that I thought would be easier to image in PCGS plastic (without the NGC white).
