New Discovery " CC " Morgan VAMs!...Must fight back....

the urge to start collecting Morgan VAMs. Peace VAMs are enough.
I had previously sold off most of my Morgan dollars and decided to stick with a "CC" set. I finally decided to look through them and see if I could attribute them..
Here are a couple I could not find listed anywhere:
1893-CC: almost PL
Has doubling at eyeball and eyelid, extra metal at 9 and 3 of date, slight clash mark at right field on reverse
1883-CC: DMPL
Has the small dash under the second 8, but the other attributes don't match like ones shown on Vamworld, both letters of CC are full of metal with strong polish lines inside, almost every letter,leaf and feather on the reverse show extra metal from polishing, strong polish lines left and right of eagles wings/leg feathers
1878-CC: DMPL
Line in wing...just one (eagles right wing) up high, CC small and closed up almost like OO, both are full of metal, lot of polish lines, WE TRUST surrounded by extra metal
I was able to attribute:
1883-CC : VAM 5A, which is MS65 GSA
1884-CC : VAM 4A, which is MS64
1885-CC : VAM 3, which is MS64PL
I'll try to get some pics up tommorrow.....Could be NEW!!

What excellent timing. I am working on a book of CC varieties and am nearly done my work on the 1893-CC date. What you have is a VAM-2. Here are some scant attribution notes I have on that variety. I am going for a VAM-2A discovery on a large gouge parallel to and in the field to the right of the right wing. It is on some, but not all, double clashed VAM-2 specimens. Of the many 1893-CC I have examined over the years, VAM-2 is the one you are nearly always going to find in MS63-MS64. I can point to many exceptional specimens. If anyone wants to see an obvious upgrade, look at the PCGS 60 that was lot 2594 in Heritage sale #408. It comes occasionally as a semi-PL. VAM-5 has a lot of prooflikes. I hope to be done the book soemtime in 2007. (Some people might start accumulating the good ones. The CC crowd will be on fire if they get into CC VAMs in a big way.) I donot recall the alligator eye on VAM-2, but there is on VAM-5 and undocumented slight profile doubling and an alligator eye on VAM-4.
VAM-2
Date slightly far – 1 at right edge of 3rd denticle, center of 8 left edge of 7th denticle, ball of 9 between 9th and 10th denticles, chip between loops of 3 on right.
Medium CC, set slightly high and tilted right, 2nd C tilted more. Chips in CC.
Double clashed with possible n. Cotton bolls clashed.
Obv crack lower right tip right star 3 through bottom tip right star 4 to denticle before right star 5. Crack top of 2nd U of PLURIBUS. Cracks through bottoms of right stars 4-6 and 2-3 develop.
Late state extends denticle crack from stars 3 and 4 to the bottom of star 2.
Late state cracks left stars 2-3 and 4-6 as well at BUS and bottom of 93.
Rev crack left wing through A halfway down to horizontal crossbar through upper third of M and along tops of MERIC. Develops at bottom of LLAR and diagonal through right star into denticles.
Late state develops crack from left star through top of UN, bottom of ONE and left star. Also top STATES O, lower AT, both S to denticles, F to left wing. Diagonal crack left wreath to D of DOLLAR.
Polishing between neck and left wing. Polishing right side of bow.
Large gouge in field parallel to the right of the left wreath by 2nd cluster from the top on some specimens – potential VAM-2A.
