I came into a bunch of 1917 Wheat cents. Where should I be looking to see if any are the DDO?

    On Copper Coins the pictures show the strongest doubling on the WE and RU on "IN GOD WE TRUST".
    WTB: Eric Plunk cards, jersey (signed or unsigned), and autographs. Basically anything related to him

    Positive BST: WhiteThunder (x2), Ajaan, onefasttalon, mirabela, Wizard1, cucamongacoin, mccardguy1


    Negative BST: NONE!

    On the 1917, you can actually see strong doubling on the date and TRUST. Good luck though...... I have been searching for years and have never found one.

    easiest way to see if it is a DDO, is to look at the upper curl of the '9' in the date. There will be a distinct split there, strong enough that it shows on the lowest graded pieces.

    Hey clad,
    If the date is clean you can spot it there, if the date is too worn look at TRUST,
    Here is a pic of the word TRUST on mine

    Sorry about the coins. I just went through a couple thousand wheats and didn't find any '17 DDO's.

    I did find an F-12/VF-20 1910-S though. It's a sweet coin. I also got a 14-S in G-4.

    Here are some old images I made showing the major pick-up points of this variety versus a normal coin. I found a corroded AG example in a bulk group of wheats and I when I sold it used these in the ebay auction to show the attribution was correct. It is possible to cherry this variety even in cull grades just by looking at the 7 in the date and the last T in TRUST.
