Merry Christmas to you from the fine folks at TeleTrade!!!!!

keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
Well, I wouldn't have been upset or dissappointed if TeleTrade had cancelled there "every Monday" auction this week, after all it is a rather notable Holiday observed by most and the traffic there should be lighter as a result. They chose to hold the line and hold the auction, though. I wondered if anyone had coins for sale or planned to bid on anything, actively while the auction is in progress?? It's "yes" to both questions for me.

I had a consignment back in October which included a coin that has yet to sell. It'll be on the block again tonight and has got to be reaching the break even point for them with all the attention it's getting!! There are also a few interesting items that may sell low so I'll be watching them and bidding furiously!! How 'bout you, watching/bidding/selling anything this evening??

A note to all: no plugs of your coins, please!image

I'd be interested to see how the results will be. I'd be concerned if I were a consignor whose items were up for sale today.

On the other hand, maybe some people will be looking to buy some VERY last-minute gifts...

If your wife (or whatever you have) is feeling bad about not getting you enough loot point her here...
  • I was not exactly overjoyed to find some of mine consigned to the xmas sale.

I have have resigned myself to the probability that most will be buybacks.

But, who knows? There is always that "I'm gonna get me smoe coins at bargain rates while everybody else is sipping egg nog and wild turkey" bunch out there....

I'll be watching the auction even though I don't have anything specifically targeted just yet.

I will see if anything looks like it may go off at bargin prices. image

I picked up a couple last night at TT and they weren't like steals. Have a few on my list for tonight but probably won't bid them. There weren't any that I'd consider exceptional opportunities. If they are with reserves and nobody seems o bid them to the right levels, I guess I'll throw a bid in. I did get my 1879-O VAM-4 (PCGS 61) for about half price on 12/25 last year at TT as well as a bargain on an 1880 VAM-1A (PCGS 45). I know it was taking advantage, but should I really care?

I have a ton of stuff in the New Year's Eve sale.

I'm very concerned as it's a signifcant amount of $$$. Guess I'll protect all the good coins and hope like crazy on the others.

I scanned the ones selling yesterday and they were not of interest or too high for me - I will scan todays as well

I have held off sending coins in concerned about this week and a half

I sold some in the late October Las Vegas sale (which brought less than i hoped) and 2 were returned and relisted on the Dec 13 auction - I bought them back and made sure they would not relist them

Having said that, the eBay items I am interested in usually take a dip the last couple weeks in Dec and first week in Jan - but so far they have been selling very strong

Yea Keets. How can we turn an innocent observation into a heated spat over spamming unless you let us know which coin you're selling? image

Like me! Without the egg nog and wild turkey... By 10:00 PM tonight there won't be many bargains left... But NOW there might be.

The only coin I have on the list today is already at about 5x market value. Probably seller reserve.

  • Wow! Surprise!

I had about 15 lots and all but one sold very strong money!

1913 25C in VG for $100!! etc..... looks like people were spending their gift money!!

i had been watching an early Proof Jefferson in a PR68 ICG holder. The coin was hazed, the holder was scuffed in the area of the steps to the point where they couldn't really be seen and the overall picture quality was bad. I made a reasonable bid at under $100 and the last i looked the price was almost $400, but checking this morning it hadn't sold. ICG Proof Jeffersons don't usually meet anything close to sheet, tend to be overgraded and regarding Cam/DCam designations are never even close if i judge from what i've seen, so i thought i might get this date at a reasonable price and crack/cross.

like those ditech commercials used to say.........Missed another one!!!
