What turns an ASE RP 70 into a 69?
First, spectacular set. The Mint does many things wrong, but this is top-notch material, IMHO.
(That said, of course they take this fine stuff and have the plebes throw it into a box not made for the order, stuff in a little brown paper, and out she goes, to rattle a thousand miles to my house. Three percent of the coins were in their holders and also anchored to their spots...but I digress.)
Anyway, every one of my RPs has the same two ticks, one between the O and D, and one slightly NE of there. Virtually the exact same two marks, every coin.
Can you die geeks explain? Is it "there goes the 70"? Because besides that, the coins in their totality are bee-yoo-tee-ful. Just wondering about the slabbin'. (Hmmm, perhaps NCGS...)
As always, TIA.

Wow! Russ collects SAEs
It's whatever they feel like, for the most part.
I had 10 sent in. 2 were 70, 5 were 69, and 3 were 68.
One 68 I could understand (there was a slight discoloration.....these were in the unopened boxes else I never would have sent that one in).
2 of the 68s were the exact same, to me, using a 10x loupe, as the 69s.
Some of the 69s had the same little "metal spot", or whatever is should be called when the field is slightly broken and you can seen a pinprik (sensor doesn't like that word spelled correctly) of shiny metal, as one of the 70 coins I received.
One 70 had no discerning mark or anything on it. Totally perfect. For the one with the "metal spot" or whatever, it came from a batch like that where all 5 from that group had the same thing. Very small not noticeable unless you tilt just right and use a strong eye/loupe.
So, I think one 70 may have been wrong but I also feel most of the 68s were wrong and one of the other 69s should have been a 70.
In all, it is a crapshoot.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

The same thing that turns a 69 into a 70 (or 64 into a 65, or a 50 into a 55 for that matter)...resubmittal.
I did not get any RP70s, just 69s and a single 68
I've got one more set on order (ordered after the red notice) and if I receive it, will hope for a 70
