PCGS just called me 2006-w UNC Plat First Strike or 10Th. Anniv

News From PCGS 2006-W Unc Plat.
I sent my Plat 2006-w Unc Sets to PCGS and they called to tell me that they received the sets.
Ted Hartman( not sure of the spelling) From PCGS called me to tell me that PCGS has this morning deceided to issue FIRST STRIKE or 10Th Anniv. for $10.00 Additional per coin . You can only have one on the holder not both. So the slab will read $100 Plat 2006w MS-?? First strike or $100 Plat 2006-w MS-?? 10Th Anniv. You can not get both.
My sets were sent open only the coins were sent. He did not say anything about the need to send the Plat. sets in mint unopened boxs.

What number did you use for the individual coins, specifically the $100 one ounce coin?

Now the question is, do we ask for the !st Strike...

or the 10th anniversary on the slab?

Companies like people, can change their minds.

As for the choice., since next years Platinum will see a 10th Anniversary by Mint,

I believe I am going to ask for the 1st strike with the flag on the 2006 set.

As long as the label is PCGS, I don't really care what it says. I trust the name and I trust the system set up to grade my coins. That's all that really matters.

When I called PCGS it was well before the complete sellout of the plat W's that they stated they will designate only the 10th Anniversary Label and not FS. Guess they are seeing that these are going to be popular and the quick sellout caused them to change their mind. Question is do they need to be in unopened boxes or will the packing slip suffice for these? If the mint starts shipping these after 30 days after first release then those in opened boxes with the packing slip before the 30 days can be switched out. So my guess is that they should be in unopened boxes. But this being a low mintage the mint will be able to ship all of these well with the 30 day time limit. A lot of ifs. And that is if they have finished minting these.

    I agree. FS

  • With a bulk submission of over 100 to submit I'll say I'll be asking for FS designation, not 10th Anniversary.

FS for me also. 10th Anniversary Plats will be in 2007. I will follow the mint's designation.

Now will this be also true for the Gold Uncirculated fractionals excluing the $50 since this will have long past the deadline?

It ain't that hard to figger out an anniversary, people!!!!

Funny, but I submitted two questions on Monday

to the Q&A Forum, about this very issue. I guess,

that great minds work in sync.
