Starting to see lots of PCGS PR70 Silver eagles

Starting to see lots of PCGS PR70 2006 Silver Eagles on ebay (non first strike and non anniversary label) I guess they are submitting without the box. Well anyways what is a non first strike and non anniversary label 2006 PCGS PR70 Silver eagle worth and what is the potential upside for this coin in the future?

If you're talking about the RP, there will never be a non-20th Anniversary label RP slabbed because unlike the other two coins in the set, they were only available in the 20th Anniversary set.

No I am talking about the regular Silver Eagle Proof. It was slabbed PR70 but no first strike no anniversary set, even though it was in the anniversary set!

I think the designation had to be requested and required additional fees ($10) so technically I think you could have just a plain label without it saying 20th anniversary.

If it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck then what is it?

The only way to get the reverse proof is from the 20th Anniversary Set so wheather it is on the label or not it is still an 20th Anniversary coin.image
As far as it saying "First Strike" what does that mean? First Released?

The best real answer to your is the completed auctions on ebay.

No, the 20th Anniversary designation didn't require additional fees. That was the fee for the First strike designation. The regular proof would be slabbed without the 20th Anniversary designation unless submitted in the Mint shipping box as part of the 20th Anniversary set. The Reverse Proof would be given the designation even if sent opened because it was available only in the 20th Anniversary set.

Hard to say. I mean 20th Anniversary designation or not, they are the same exact coin (the regular proofs). It will probably never sell for as much as a designated coin because of the mindset of plastic buyers.

    Please clarify this:

If I send in an opened box containing 3 coins in 20th Anniversary Mint holder, will I get the designation of 20th Anniversary on all 3 coins assuming I do pay an extra $10/coin on top of the grading fee ?

    Thanks

First, the answer is no on the regular proof and the business strike because the box has been opened. Second, there is no $10 fee for the 20th anniversary label - that's for the First Strike™ designation.

For real. This is the one SAE from the anniversary set with no upside chance.

You actually think these have upside potential? As in, they will sell for more in the future than they are now? Or, are you just joking around?

The upside is certainly not in the RP70's.

The basic coins may have some upside!!!

There's no upside in either. The regular proof is already to almost 500 coins graded PR70DCAM.

    Here's my take:

The RP and reg proof eagles in PCGS and NGC 70 are maxed out. The ungraded sets have plenty of upside, especially those in unopened Mint shipping boxes. I'm looking for $500-$600 per in a couple years. I think the RPs raw are $300-$350 coins in the not too distant future. The regular proof raw, graded, 70 or whatever is a dud. The wild card is the 2006 W unc. I think these coins raw or in MS68-69 holders may be a big-time buy right now. They're the new key to the series with less than 15% of the mintage of the 1996 which is a $100 coin. You can still snag the 2006 W for less than $50. This situation will correct at some point. For now, it screams opportunity.

How much is CDN bid for a PR70?

While many people don't like the idea of buying the slab and not the coin. There may actually be a market for re-certified 20th anniversary sets from PCGS. In addition even though there is no meaning to the First Strike other than first shipped many collectors collect the label. (If that makes any sense).

So there will be very few 20th anniversary sets with the First strike label and certified as an actual 20th anniversary set for all three coins and there may always be a decent premium on these.

AS far as the generic silver eagle proof and UNC don't hold your breath. Prices will drop fast once the market gets saturated next year.

You guys act as though a PCGS PR70 Eagle is a dime a dozen, how many are there really? Is the mint that much better this year than previous ones? What about the MS eagle with only 500,000 it blows the socks off the 1996 right?image

Russ i was referring to the basic Reverse Proof, bot the regular proof. I think there is room for growth here.

No, what I'm saying is that the upside from here is in the other two coins in the set, except for the 70 RP.

I was just wondering what the pops are on reg proofs, and unc. coins that carry the 20th ann. label? You'd think a lot of normal proof coins would be disqualified, from opened packages. And I know the label makes no difference as far as the coin, but some will want that designation to go with all of the mint packaging, myself included. I have 2 still in an unopened box, 2 in reserve, and 2 backordered. I'm thinking of joining PCGS, and if it weren't for this website, I may have never considered submitting coins.
