To demand or when they need the equipment/resources to go forward with new product (2007).

The mint reserves the right to stop production at any time. And, to wait until the EOY basically is taking a chance.

I'd like to know what the final mintage is. Looks like a winner.

Man, if low, the 20th Anniversary set is going to be even bigger than I'd hoped. Prices are really jumping on Ebay in the last week. Single sets are selling for $230+ now.

    Makes for an interesting situation.
By my count here are now 4 versions of slabs for the 2006-W..........

    Unc. 20th ASE First Strike

    Unc. 20th ASE non FS

Unc. 2006-W non 20th Anniversary FS

    Unc. 2006-W non 20th-non FS

I bet the tough one to find will be one in a First Strike non 20th Anniversary slab.

Prices on the top grade MS69 FS have been moving up lately.
This news should goose all versions.

Someone on another system said that they cut off production in late November, and are just selling them till they are gone. I would assume that the same thing applies to the other BU-W's such as the gold and platinum.

Based on the NN numbers people had and the 270,000 in the sets, I'd say it's looking pretty close to 500,000 coins.

This is very low as the Regular Proof does about 750,000 a year, althought the lowest is around 350,000 Proofs, I forget the year.

Compared to the regular Unc. forget about it, those are in the millions, like 3, 4, 5 million.

Yep...makes me think even the MS68's and the ungraded ones will do nicely.

Likely won't be until after the new year....gotta give time for people wanting these as gifts to find out they are sold out. Then, it needs to be in the NN and CW.

once the '07 starts, then I think they will go up a bit more.

That would make this coin far and away the key to the unc. set. It looks like there are two big winners in the 20th Anniversary set.

I was thinking about $400-450 in two years just this morning. I was on my way to order a few singles a got the surprise. Now I think you may be right. The 1993, 1994, 1995 P's run a couple of hundred dollars with mintages around 400,000. This 3-coin set has a double whammy!

These are the proofs. The proofs are still on sale and I don't think will ever bring much of a premium unless in a 20th Anniversary labeled slab. The reverse proof is a slam dunk winner. The uncs, with todays news of being sold out and a mintage in the half million range, are the newly crowned keys of the unc set.

That's what...about a $100 coin and was considered the key to the unc. series? Now the series has a key with almost an order of magnitude smaller mintage. The '96, now the semi-key, will either stop rising in price, or, with much more interest in the series because of a real key, rise slowly due to increased demand across the board.

I am glad my order went through. I was going to order a roll of 2007's but thought it was not much more to order 20 of the uncirculated W 2006's so that is what I did and I am happy today!image

I ordered a coiple last week and a couple more in the AM (Dec 11). Glad I did. It looks like I'll be hanging on to my 20th anniversary ones for a while too, unless those FS ones keep rising in price.

250,000 in the 3 coins set plus 20,000 in the 2 coin set = 270,000 plus whatever has been sold as singles.

With an estimated 500,000 2006 W Uncirculated ASE minted, and many of the 250,000 and 20,000 examples remaining in Anniversary Sets, the demand for the single MS coins maybe greater than the mintage figure would seem !! Food For Thought !! Mark.

Paul Sims was selling the Uncs for $25 in CW last week. It will be interesting to see what their pricing looks like next week. Remember, they were asking $25 when you could buy from the Mint at $19.95. There was no rarity premium. The market for the Uncs is just beginning as it was noted there is now a "key" for this series.

I picked one up from a CW ad for $24.95 yesterday. The first place I called said they're out of stock (strange, the mint hasn't sent any singles out) and will be repriced.

nothing strange about it. they were probably ordering them from the mint as they were selling them. I was pre-selling 2006-W silver eagle NGC MS-69 for $35. Sold about 300 coins. Figured as I sold coins I would just order them from the mint. I was lucky enough to have ordered enough raw coins to cover my orders before the mint stopped selling them but I can honestly tell people I'm sold out.
  • Options
so, where would someone buy them from now?

How can you assume that the coins you were waiting to get from the mint would eventually be graded by NGC as MS-69? Is that the minimum grade for NGC for these coins regardless of condition?

I saw the quality of the 2006-W's in the 3 piece anniversary sets. Just about all of the coins were MS-69's. No reason to think the coins sold as singles would be any different. I actually received the first 200 coins I ordered and the quality of the 2006-W silver eagles is the best I have ever seen and I've seen a lot of unc silver eagles.
