A trade I made last weekend 12/2&3/06. A raw 20th Ann. SAE set for a SF Old Mint $5 gold unc.

I had to return the 2 SF Old Mint $5 gold unc's I bought from the Mint due to specks and arriving loose in the mail. So I've been looking to find one to buy that I can look at in hand before I do.

Our coin club had their annual 2 day show this past weekend and Samuel and I set up a table to get rid of some odds and ends. (I found out our club was 6 tables short of breaking even on the show so I bought a table to help.) I took one of my 20th Ann. SAE sets and priced it at $250 to see if I got any nibbles.

So, Sunday as I was walking around when it was pretty slow, I noticed a guy had a 06 Old Mint $5 gold Unc Commem in original packaging for sale for $245. I asked to look at it and it was both spot and speck free. I was amazed. It looked so much nicer than the 2 I sent back to the Mint. I brought my SAE set over and asked him if he'd like to do a trade. After a little talking, wheeling and dealing, BINGO! I got a nice $5 gold commem for $100 out of pocket.

I felt pretty good about the trade and he did too so it was a good day at the old coin show Sunday.

That's cool, though, the SFOM is modern "crap" image
But, since you probably have an extra SAE set, and didn't have the SFOM that you wanted, it is all image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    great move

With a mintage of 250,000, the best price one can get for an ASE Reverse Proof (in original packaging) is $300. Not too bad to trade a coin set potentially worths $450 (3 years from now) for an Old Mint coin currently valued at $240.
