I know what you mean with those coin shows. It's like a train wreck, you just can't take your eyes off of it, even though we know the stuff is priced about 3X full retail.

    It's crazy -

But the funniest thing I've seen lately was the two country guys - their show is called Coin Country, I think, and they were selling this Franklin Mint crap. A big tray of 10oz silver bars - about 25 or 30 on the tray. They talked it up a while, nobody bought it, and they went to their next item. All of a sudden you hear CRASH!! and the sound of all those bars hitting the concrete studio floor. I cracked up. They ignored it and went on with the show like nothing happened - you could hear the guy picking up those bars in the background...hilarious.

My wife and I have different tastes in TV veiwing, I therefore reliquish the remote (as I also do with other valuables) and then I surf the web.

David Letterman/Conan O'Brian...you can muli-task during the plethera of commercials.

Oh and to keep it coin related, many moons ago, Coin Country had 100 silver logo bars from various banks located across our nation. These were proof bars in a wooden case and they said they haven't been touched in 30-40 years! I think it was Tom O'Dell who started taking these 1 oz. proof bars out of the case with his fingers and setting them up for display.

After a hard day at work, it is the only time to read the best coin-related threads.
  • I was watching Coin Vault the other night and they were selling rolls of peace dollars. The guy was putting the peace dollars up on a display individually. In between coins you could clearly hear that one of the coins dropped. It sounded like the coin hit a hard surface, and spun around for a bit until it settled flat. The guy paused for a second and then said the one he dropped wouldn't be in the one of the rolls being sold. Will that dropped peace dollar forever be relegated to the Vault, never to be seen again?
  • Until a few weeks ago I worked at the hospital 11PM - 7AM Thursday night through Monday morning. Now I'm working 10PM - 7AM Sunday night through Wed morning. (And of course that is in addition to the 7AM - 5 or 7PM I'm at the carpet shop Mon - Sat.)

Until recently I had a family & a life and hadn’t posted here in over a year. Now I’m a bum and have no set schedule so I come & go at all hours of the day & night and might be reading the board & posting at any time.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

  • I used to post here quite a lot but about a year and a half ago I got put on the night ops position (8 P.M.-6 A.M.) at my big box hardware store (we won't mention any names). Then my wife commandeered the laptop I used to loaf at work. Now it's pretty much weekends only. Hell, I just recently discovered the open forum was gone!
