IDENTIFY PROOF SETS (1999)

only dumb question is the one not asked???? well i have some 1999 clad proof sets, some of the sets have the bar code end glued shut, others have a openable flap at both ends, is one of the boxes "first strike", or what is the diff. image

  • Mine open only from the non bar code side. Did you get them directly from the Mint? If so, I'd say you have a packaging defect. It has nothing to do with first strike. image
  • no did not get directly from mint, two boxes only one (oppisite bar code) end opens with locking flap, and two boxes have both ends with locking flaps????

    Here-say I can't prove it, but the early boxes, the one with just one closeable flap were the early boxes and part way through it came to pass where the dual flaps came into being.

    Something to do with the double lens set and the automatic stuffing machine...the Mint got the kinks worked out and bam...by the 10ths of thousands they came with the double flap.

    Then again I may be dead wrong...keep this TTT and we'll find out.

    Lots more experts here than me when it comes to stuff like this.
