My ASE set is sitting in its original box and is going to stay in its original box till it is no longer in my posession.....
Collection under construction: VG Barber Quarters & Halves
  • I think I'm going to try for grading from ICG. I have some other coins to send them to complete a couple of sets SO I thought I'd try for thier higher grading to see how they do with my 2 ASE sets (un-opened box).
Also my SFO silver is on it's way to me. Still awaiting my replacement of the SFO Gold coin I sent back due to open capsule.
And I am going to send them my 20th anniv Gold & Silver set.

    (1) gold set graded and returned FS

    (5) silver sets being graded only one FS the rest,
are 20th Ann only except for reverse proof.

    (5) silver sets still coming from Mint 12/8/06

  • I ask because I'm curious how many coins PCGS may end up grading.

Another member purchased my 5 sets so I sent them in for him, instead of mailing them to him for him to submit.
  • i got 4 sets back with FS, and i have 6 there now, not sure if they will get FS but all will be 20th anniv. labeled.

    edited for spelling

I believe that PCGS FIRST STRIKE SETS, will be much less

then most folks think. There in lies the price kicker for the

    sets.

It is very, very sad but you may be right.
I hate to think of all the money being wasted to get that little flag.
Heck we should trash the coins and just collect the inserts.
    Makes just as much sense.
What would be the term for someone who collects labels??

Ten sets turned in at the Santa Clara show on 11/18. F.S. and 20th Anne. designations. Grades posted today and shipped.

PS. My first ever submission to PCGS and I am delighted with the friendly and fast service.

Before the end comes, we shall all be buying and

selling tulip bulbs and South Sea land holdings.

  • It will be very interesting to see the price spread between same grade 20th ASE coins in FS/nonFS.

Maybe these tulip sales will support my coin habbit.image

It is funny how some falks will quantify the "value" of a $10000 "half dollar" and "appraise" for someone selling moderns at 4x cost. (to support my, er', one's, coin habit).image
