PCGS and variety coins

Is PCGS currently holdering all Fivaz-Stanton numbered coins under the variety attribution service? I've seen several posts about it but nothing has been updated on their website. If anyone has, how detailed must you be with your description? or is simply putting the FS number under the variety column sufficient?
Thanks.

  • Bruggs, just put the FS# on the variety line and they will holder the coin with the old and new FS#.

    example 1946-S DDO 5c FS# 5c-031.5 on the line
From my understanding, Carolyn Castillo at PCGS they will holer it

    1946-S
    Doubled Die Obverese
    FS#5c-031.5
FS-101(this is the new FS #)
  • So, do they just take the variety description you furnish them and place it on the holder, or do they verify that it actually is that particular variety, before listing it on the holder?

Will they certify Overton or Browning varieties?

I just sent in 3, and two of them were in Mint Error holders with the variety already noted. They should have just re-holdered them, but still wanted $15 for each.

You hope. I seem to recall a 1964 Kennedy that Russ sent in that he deliberately identified as an AH even though it wasn't just to see if they actually confirmed them. If I recall correctly it wound up becoming the finest known 1964 AH half dollar.
