  at 180 dollars a coin that would be highly unlikely.
  the premium on this coin is 60 to 70 dollars over spot.
  I would think collectors and speculators are really the only ones buying.
  I bought one because I collect the 1/10 platinum eagles.
  Buying the proof and bullion coins was expensive enough , this new uncirculated coin is a real budget buster for me. I am sure most collectors of the series feel the same way. Most likely the speculators are the ones buying them by the dozen.

  It's a good question. Like the other posts on this issue, it comes down to a guessing game. One poster did mention that there were some larger orders on the 1/10th prior to sellout. I doubt the orders were as large as you mentioned, just for the fact that the Mint most likely only had 3,000 or so minted. And it appears that they will not be minting more.... otherwise, why would they close the option instead of just minting more to order?
  
  Or, perhaps the orders were that large.... and when the quantity on hand was reached whether 3,000 or more, the Mint closed the option.

  I have been collecting the proof 1/10 oz platinums since I started collecting in 2001, but missed out on the 1/10 oz platinum W unc and am bummed out about it.....
  
  Not sure what to do really.....
  
  Might get the 1/4 oz one, but that is alot more money.....
  
  Also an order of 10000 coins would be 4x what was last reported in N News.....

  TheRaven.... if you can afford it, the quarter ounce may be a good way to go. Then, if the mintage remains very low like it looks like it has a possibility of (and it will probably have a lower mintage than the 1/10th), then you will be able to sell the quarter ounce later for a good profit and with that, turn around and purchase the 1/10th (and hopefully pocket some extra). This would assume that the quarter ounce will bring more profit than the 1/10 ounce.... but of course, no guarantee of that...
  
  purchasing the quarter ounce will 'keep you in the game' so to speak...

  I have had the same thought in regards to getting the 1/4 oz.....

  I entered a very lengthy article yesterday and then deleted it after thinking about about it a bit. One of my suggestions as a PS was for you to buy the quarter. Stop procrastinating and go buy your quarter now. Do not play a game of chicken with the mint on this issue ......you will get run over.

  I have it on good authority that the MS Plats will be selling at 5X issue price. If you don't mortgage your house, car, wife & kids and order up , you is being a complete non believer conspiracy-theorist loser.
