That is really neat. Using the death index Russ linked to the other day, there is one entry for that name in 1930 (If I'm reading the card right). Showed he just passed away a few months ago. Did you get it from a family member? If not, the family might be interested in buying the piece back.

    GEORGE J DIEHL 22 Jun 1930 04 Jul 2006 (V) 15131 (Mc Keesport, Allegheny, PA) (none specified) 165-22-9912 Pennsylvania

Found his memorial online too if you're looking to add history to the piece:

George J. Diehl 76, of White Oak, PA died Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at UPMC-McKeesport Hospital. Born June 22, 1930 in McKeesport, PA a son of the late George and Bertha Buchweitz Diehl. A Graduate of McKeesport High School and Rowe Company Electro Mechanical School in Flint, MI; He was a partner and manager of Morgan Music of McKeesport, an originator and partner of White Oak Lanes of White Oak and an installer of IBM equipment at Westinghouse for MAI Equipment Company. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in White Oak; the McKeesport Lodge # 641 F & AM; The McKeesport Royal Arch Chapter # 282; McKeesport Commendery # 086 Knight Templar; Scottish Rite Consistory; the Scottish Rite Reception Committee; Syria Temple AAONMS of Pittsburgh; a member and past captain and president of the Syria Horse Patrol; Syria Temple Unit Organization; McKeesport Caravan # 4; past Trustee of Al-O-Mon Forest # 138- TCL; TCL Boom Ba Band and the White Oak AARP Chapter # 2294. Paul Ritchey officiating. Interment is private. Memorial Contributions may be made in George’s memory to the Wesley United Methodist Church, Broadway Ave. & Prescott St., White Oak, PA 15131. www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com

In the depression, you could get a blue plate special for 25 cents.

21/2 dollars was a lot of money, especially if you had none.
There once was a place called

I read a lot of threads I enjoy and don't bother to thank the OP. I should try to change that.

    Thanks!

I am hoping it was sold long ago. I just PM'd Smitty the daughter's info and phone number if he chooses to pursue it. If he bought it from the family, then so be it. If it was sold long ago, and that was my Grandfather/father's, I would love to be able to purchase it.

It is kind of sad though, he sounded like quite a man.
