<< <i>strangely, I don't have any 1834 coins photographed and "at the ready" >>
LOL Perhaps because there are no half dime rarities with the date 1834? This thread gives me goosebumps. The incredible beauty of everyones coins and the extreme rarity of Barndogs's...wow! Today is a good day

I actually have a "rare" 1834 H10C but no pic. It is the common 1834 LM-2 with a very uncommon characteristic -- the upper loop of the second S in STATES (S2 for those who prefer the vernacular) is not filled. VERY TOUGH to find. I should photograph it some day!
Image from NGC - between slabs: (I asked them to "get thru" all the shine so I could see the surface)
This little gem is one of only 3 graded proof half dimes from 1836. (NGC - 2, PCGS - 1) PR-65, and part of the only known intact 1836 presentation proof set, brought to market in 1999 by Brian Hendelsen.
Note the die cracks on the REVERSE. It appears that they used a near terminal die for a proof?? (it must have been a rush order!)
Ron- I bought the coin for it's outstanding eye appeal so I am not all that concerned about it upgrading. I assume you were the competition? Did you happen to see the coin in hand? I really think the coin is much nicer than the image and it is replacing this coin in my toned type set.
I was a player, for a while on that one Boiler, but no I was not the under bidder. I regret not getting that one, and the 1870 Proof half from that auction.
PM me details on the 1830, if you are replacing it with the 1834.
Great pics. Amazing variation in the different "looks" of the coins.

Yeah, I was looking at that coin earleir thinking that exact same thing!! Well I don't know how much the toning is "truly" worth on that coin, but I would be happy owning it.

Oh, I do. I do. Guilty as charged. With coins as attractive as those, what's not to love?
Oh wait, I'm thinking of the Dime. Shute, well that's how I picked up my first Bust Half Dime.
Those are quite attractive coins you have there. Thanks for sharing.
I know zero about these as far as varieties, but I know a nice looking coin when I see it.Quite a

Those are so ugly you should just GIVE them away to someone who lives reasonably close to you
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
