We have broken out to the upside. Study the charts and look at my thread as I study this regularly.

  • Silver broke out too, and dollar got hosed the last two trading days.

I hope they've got their coffers full and let it run this time.

  • A plus 0.50 doesn't really make me go crazy. What was more shocking today was the PLUMMIT of platinum. Haven't seen that much of a price drop in a long time. Makes me want to break out my credit card and pick up another ounce of it.
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.

Pay no attention to that barbarous relic behind the curtain (gold).
It is destined for the scrap heap of eternity while fiat paper will continue to be the only true measure of honest value. (PS I'll take those worthless $20 Saints off your hands for a pile of valuable fiat).

Of course it will. Ever hear of inflation?

  • From what I've read (I'm no expert) it looks like the Dollar is going to keep sliding until springtime. The Fed just lowered their growth expectations. This was the kiss of death for the dollar. Central banks are supposedly starting to replace Dollars with British Pounds in their currency reserves. This will cause further sliding. The Chinese apparently have a massive reserve of Dollars are from what I hear they may start dumping it for UK Pounds. Watch out if that happens. The high Pound though is putting pressure on the British to lower rates and there's talk that this may happen in the springtime. Between now and then it looks good for precious metals.

The United States will continue to mismanage its assets and finally a few more will notice it.

The dollar's being walked to zero in as orderly a fashion as possible. The rush for the door to get out of it as a reserve is officially underway. But the door is narrow. The sheeple who were raised within a consumer driven economy, spoonfed evaporative liquidity are going to be last to realize what's happened to their wealth.

I know I'm a newbie here, and I sell woodworking machinery for a trade.

I'm just an average American who sees a maple tree as a gold coin planchet , ready to be struck by my woodworking machines.

Ok, so that's a stretch, here's another stretch.

..............................I cannot believe that gold isn't $1000/oz. for many reasons that I'm sure you all agree.

I can't disagree with you here. I'm certainly no economist, but it doesn't take a PhD in Economics to realize that our dollar and trade deficit are both way out of whack. China and India holds far too much of our debt and influence, and right now they hold far too little gold in compared to their currency. If they decided to flood the market with US dollars to purchase a few tons of gold, this would really kick our ass. I'm bullish on gold for a lot of reasons
