I was looking at my coins last night.................

When my daughter and current boyfriend came to my house.
He kept looking at me kinda funny and acted like he hadn't ever seen someone looking at coins through a microscope, before.
Man, non-coincollectors sure are strange.

    You were using a microscope?

Were you looking for paramecia or volvox on your coins?

he is an idiot tell your daughter to get rid of that loser and find someone more open to new ideas

Wow, that's a little harsh michael.

Not everyone understands coins the way you and I do. Doesn't make him a loser.

    Ummmm.....
He's 38, and owns 15 rental housing units. I don't believe he plays video games.
Oh, he owns a Heating and Air Conditioning business as well.

<<<When my daughter and current boyfriend came to my house.>>>

I agree with itsnotjustme. That did sound strange.
"My" is a nominative singular pronoun referring to yourself so you are saying your current boyfriend came to your house. The use of the conjunction "and" verifies that the daughter and the boyfriend are both yours since you failed to use the possessive case of she, which is "her," before boyfriend.
We're looking at you funny too.

A lack of interest in numismatics should not automatically make somebody a "loser", nor should it exclude them from finding a suitable partner whose parent(s) are coin collectors.

If you think video games and "smart mouthed" Gen X'ers and Y'ers are the exclusive losers and brainless, then you haven't many coin collectors. Think about it...looking at coins under a microscope...sounds rather "unusual" from a non-numismatists' point of view.

Face it...numismatic collectors are a strange bunch. They're the group of folks who will complain about having to pay admission to enter a coin show or pay for parking then not flinch when they spend $20,000 on one coin.

I am sure looking at coins through a microscope is weird to someone not into coins at that level.

Sometimes when I get coins in the mail at the post office, I lock the car doors when I get in with them and look at them with a loupe in the ambient sunlight. At times I feel like some junkie with his works getting a fix there and people passing by sort of give the same look as I'd expect for that. They must assume I am some criminal looking over a heist or something.

I do it, and after I think what the heck am I doing. But, it's a good idea to look at a coin in the sun. I won't walk out in my front yard and do it. So the PO works for me too!image Yup, I lock the door of my truck in case someone can figure out what I'm doing.

Yes but after 5 years the car is worth $8,000 and the small disc of metal is worth $28,000!
