Whoo-hoo, I finally found my avatar!

After years of the zig-zag man, I've finally found an avatar to change into when the God's permit. Over the years, I took a bit of heat for the "king of the rolling paper" avatar, but in truth it was chosen from the stock avatars on this site because no one else had it at the time that I joined the CU forums. Today I found this token in a coin shop junk box...it's just what I wanted! The Blackhawk Wars of 1832 took place in my home state of Wisconsin and involved three future presidents...Abraham Lincoln, Zachary Taylor and Confederate president Jefferson Davis. If you're a history buff, Google the subject to find out more.

So that was the Zig-Zag man? I thought he was a pirate. Funny how some thought it was Jesus. image

Let's try it on for size.

Hm. The scuffs on his face didn't shrink down well, so I softened the focus a little. Looks like it softened it too much.

Sharpened back up, it's too pixelated, though the lettering is easier to read. Maybe I need to start over without trying to brighten your original pic any. (I brightened it a tiny bit).

Here, I think this is a little better, though I am sure somebody more experienced with smoething more sophisticated than Paint can do a better job.

You can often tell the real oldtimers on these forums 'cause they still wear the smaller old stock icons.

    Link to Surrender

An Indian, who is as bad as the white men, could not live in our nation; he would be put to death, and eat up by the wolves. The white men are bad schoolmasters; they carry false looks, and deal in false actions; they smile in the face of the poor Indian to cheat him; they shake them by the hand to gain their confidence, to make them drunk, to deceive them, and ruin our wives. We told them to let us alone, and keep away from us; but they followed on, and beset our paths, and they coiled themselves among us, like the snake. They poisoned us by their touch. We were not safe. We lived in danger. We were becoming like them, hypocrites and liars, adulterers, lazy drones, all talkers, and no workers.

~now substitute white men with wannabes/coin doctors, Indian with coin collector~

Surrender Speech (1832) I think Black Hawk was on to something 174 years ago.

An coin collector, who is as bad as the wannabes, could not live in our nation; they would be put to death, and eat up by the wolves. The wannabes are bad schoolmasters; they carry false looks, and deal in false actions; they smile in the face of the poor coin collector to cheat him; they shake them by the hand to gain their confidence, to make them drunk, to deceive them, and ruin our wives.
