Hold or Fold? 2006 PCGS Silver Anniversary Set??

I have received my first graded set back from PCGS, a 2006 SAE set that all graded at 69.
I would like to know what you think - would it be better to sell or hold onto this set?
They are First Strike, of course, and I have seen numerous threads on this set so please weigh in.
Thanks for the view,
Miles

Do you want a sure thing?
What ROI would you be satisfied with?
What are the going rates on ebay? BST board here?
Those are the questions that you have to answer in order to know if you should sell or hold right now.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
The average 69 set sold on eBay has been $428.23 and rising with the last 5 sold at an average of $474.30.
Rev.Pr. 69: average price of $307.90 nad has also been rising with the last 5 selling at an average price of $335.
MS-69: average price $158.45 and rising with last 5 at $185.60
DCAM 69: average price $90.97 and fluctuating
If I were doing this just for an investment, personally I'd sell the set now. As only a fraction of these have been graded so far, 6275 ASE Reverse Proofs graded as of yesterday by PCGS & NGC--less than 3% of the mintage! There are a ton of people waiting to receive their grades, and there are still 10-set unopened boxes selling.
I'd expect prices to soften somewhat as much of the demand is filled over the next month or so, no differently than what we've seen with softening of AGE 69s. Add in the hangover from the holidays and methinks the average price for the 69 set will decline to the $350 level, but that's pure speculation or wishful thinking.
I bought these because I addicted to coin collecting. I blew my next 5 years of budgets on ASE/AGE. I'm awed by the beauty of the reverse proof silver eagle and the St. Gaudens has always been my favorite coin. So whatever I sell, it will only be to reduce what I've sunk into these, though I'm just as likely to purchase more if I can buy them on the cheap.
One other thought Miles, the best offers option on ebay or buy it now appears to be getting the highest prices, though if you set it too high people balk.
Good luck whatever you choose.
Happy Collecting!
Since your are graded and I don't have an interest in that game if that changes the dynamic I don't know.....
<< <i>I think these sets are long term winners..... >>
I agree. Graded (69 or 70) examples will only go up. I'm a hold.

Not just graded examples. These sets will go the way of the '99 Silver Proof set and the 2001 Buffalo Commems. I'm also a hold.

Me too
I've already got a MS69, RP69, PR70DCAM First Strike set and another set at PCGS. I hope that'll turn out to be a MS69(no FS),RP70,PR70DCAM
I'm planning on holding on to these for a while. At least until around Easter when I think prices will start climbing again.
Unless I get an offer for $12K for a set
42/92
You will be glad you did.

Better hope they don't "turn" in the holder while you are waitin for the price to go up.
The first law of investing is that "you can't go wrong by taking a profit". If you are satisfied with what you can make; sell. If you think there is more upside; hold.
11.19.06 - SAE set sells for $5601.
The trend isn't looking good.

If you sell that creates budget resources for other coins.
Would you rather make 100% twice, or 200% once?
I have learned that this type of product is ripe for market manipulation by the big players. Not a market I want to be in. Just my opinion.

If there were no order limits, I would agree 100%. Since there were, though, I think the the big promoters getting their hands on enough to really make a difference is limited. These will trade like the '99 silver proof sets and the Buffalo Commems.

Is this really a trend? I'm at work and can't do any research on my own and I'm wondering if it's not just a case of someone getting a good deal on the second set.
I myself have been lucky enough to purchase a few PCGS MS69 silver eagles at below melt, when melt was under $7, but it wasn't a trend.
Gosh, I certainly hope so.

Might just be the second buyer got a good deal. The reverse proof in PR70 is still bringing around $5K by itself.

That one was actually originally a 5 day auction scheduled to close the 20th, but was extended with several downward revisions in the price.

Comments on the fact that the first auctions ($9375) bidder's were kept private. I know many will say it was used to hide schill bidding, but what might be the advantages of keeping bidders private?
Also what about the Xmas effect? Will it kick in this week?
Thanks
<< <i>I know many will say it was used to hide schill bidding, but what might be the advantages of keeping bidders private? >>
It prevents the bidders from getting all the bogus second chance offers.
