Ebay Item FINALLY arrives!!!!!

drddmdrddm Posts: 5,402 ✭✭✭✭✭
The item I won back on Sept 29 and that was shipped to me on Oct 4 finally arrived yesterday 11/20/06 - almost one and a half months later!!!!

I would also like to PUBLICALLY APOLOGIZE again to Ben Thompson for accusing him of not sending me the coin and questioning his character.

I have just sent him the full amount that Paypal refunded me and have started to buy insurance on all my ebay items I win or purchase - a lesson learned for sure!!

Thank you and PLEASE do not turn this into another bashing thread.

I just wanted to update everyone about the situation and say sorry again to Ben in this forum.

Thanks

Thank you for the update and for having the integrity and character to apologize in public.

Just curious -- what was the date on the postmark?

Did you add the additional necessary to cover the fees PayPal will deduct from the payment?

If Ben used PayPal shipping service there will be no postmark.

Well, almost everyone here knew that the post office was to blame for temporarily losing or "misplacing" the package, I figured it would show up at some point. Happy ending, yeah!!!

  • Glad to hear it finally showed up ... just out of curiosity, how long did he wait until he gave you a refund? Two weeks, one month, six weeks?

The date on the USPS sticker on the package says it was mailed Oct 4

Fom Oregon to New York in ONLY 6 and 1/2 weeks - not bad for the USPS, huh?

Does anyone know what paypal charges (what percentage) when receiving payments? I will gladly pay the additional amount to Ben.

    Thanks

3% I think. Could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time.

It's nice to see that it did arrive that quickly! image It's never over with the USPS until the package shows up somewhere - if it ever shows up. An unfortunate truth.

Remember this post I had last year? It was paid for and shipped to me in March, I got it in December (as you can see on the postmarks).

The seller had refunded me quickly after a month or so. But when it arrived in December, I contacted him and re-paid for the coin.

What's the record for an item sitting in USPS limbo between ship date and arrival time? Anyone had a year a more lag time?

  • Excellent end to this story.

How many people have been waiting for a package and you have the tracking number and was misplaced by the USPS over the past year ?

I have had 2 packages, 1 arrived just over 30 days late. Actually the USPS will not look for a priority mail package until it is lost for 14 days.

The second package tracking info stated " shipping info received" like the seller printed the label and did not mail the package, about a month later it arrived and had a USPS stamp of the next day when the USPS received it.

Glad it worked out and sorry many feathers were ruffled.

Couple of plusses I see from this:

    1) You learned that the USPS can take an inordinate amount of time even for sellers that do all the right things in a timely fashion
    2) Ben learned to require insurance. (as did others)
    3) You learned to get insurance. (as did others)
    4) You were man enough to step up and post the final on this rather than trying to hide it.

And, the coin is a nice looking one.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • I sent a package registered mail to NGC two years ago and it still hasn't arrived.

I was reinbursed with insurance after about 4 or 5 months, but I'll always wonder what those coins would have graded. A couple of the coins (Barber quarters) were on the edge of big jumps in price from MS63 to a 4 or 5. I'll bet good money they are in slabs now. Just a good lesson not to under insure anything you ship.
