Some questions about eBay

It has been a while since I listed anything on eBay (I was in Macau for 5 1/2 months) and the listing process has completely changed on me. It took me a while to get my images up, but that came out ok. I had some problems with the description window the preview wouldn't work but that ended up being the site and eventually straightened itself out

The problems I am having are with PayPal and Insurance:
    1
How do you set it up so that only PayPal e-checks are accepted (I don't want to pay the ridiculous PayPal fees)
    2
How do you show the insurance fee amount? The listing says "Insurance not offered" but I couldn't find where you put in the amount for insurance!

I ended up not listing, if anyone can give me some hints it would be appreciated!

Someone said recently that the chances of getting higher bids goes up and more than covers the Paypal fees on balance. I don't know, I'm just passing it along.

First of all, unless something has changed or I was wrong to begin with (which does happen image), even e-checks have a fee associated with them. I do not think there is any more or less of a fee for different types of payments. It does however change due to the account type which you have.

Second, the insurance should be changeable underneath where you entered the shipping charge. However, guessing insurance costs (by assuming the ending price of any auction) can cause problems with those "PITA" bidders/buyers. I have found it is better to state that insurance wil be charged appropriately by the ending price of the auction at USPS rates. I have not had a problem doing it this way.

    Good luck!

I would suggest sending Russ a PM. He is an expert on eBay. He also knows the intricacies of Paypal and e-checks and all of their fees. I think a previous post mentioned that for sales above a certain amount, an e-check will save you some significant fees.

Take PayPal. It's a cost of doing business.

You can't. Besides, PayPal eChecks have the same fee as regular PayPal payments, except that the fee is capped at $5. They are a huge benefit for high dollar items, but no different for smaller dollar items.

There should be a link that says "change". Clicking it will produce a drop down of options. Unless you're using the new SYI form, which I think is different. I'm still using the old form.

In this world of instant gratification, those who do not paypal do not get my bid......Bite the bullet, build the fees into your sales. You can not seriously compete in this world without credit card processing.
