<< <i>I posted on the first one that even though it looks legit, i wouldn't buy for fear that it would be too easy to execute as a scam. Now he has his goal money, the second auction verifies that it is a scam. He doesn't expect any bidders on the second auction because everyone can tell it's a scam, but he'll take what he can get. Seems he needs to close the accounts and get out of town soon though. --Jerry >>
Take a look at this character's feedback.......,,,,, as noted ....many buyers on EBay are impaired mentally..
Box of 20
Please explain? I saw a couple of coin transactions among those included in the feedback.
Where's the scam? Or am I just missing something?

Look at the feedback.......... 8 PRIVATE auction feedbacks in the last couple of weeks ...look at the unusual handle for one "impeach bush 2006 "
Doesn't EBay have a rule..................... no dutch auctions unless you all have at least 10 feedbacks....??????????
<< <i>He mentions in the auction that some of the previous buyers never paid, which would account for him having "12" sets. He also offers a refund on December 1 if the sets don't arrive.

Mentioning non-paying bidders in the auction to explain additional sets is exactly what a scammer would do. Offering a refund by 12.1 is meaningless as a scammer would be long gone by then. This is a new seller with limited history, no history of selling anything this expensive, and he's running a "presale" auction. But, the big tipoff is this:
<< <i>PAYMENT IS DUE WITHIN 1 HOUR of TIME OF BUYING >>
No legitimate seller demands payment within an hour of auction closing. Clearly, this demand is to make sure he gets the cash in plenty of time to skip before he gets caught.

Well folks ..scammer or not ..all of his other auctions were "private " for nickel and dime items in the past month.....now here is the largest item sold , 3pc AGE and the auction is not private.
Hey ....we will see one way or another in 3 weeks..

<< <i>If buyers used Pay Pal, he won't be able to access any of the money until demonstrating that he has delivered the sets. They'll freeze both his eBay account from selling and his Pay Pal account from either making purchases, or removing funds. >>
How does Ebay know it is a presale.,besides being in the auction description .?
Unlike many sellers of such coins, Finestknown did not include PCGS Price Guide prices that wouldn't have had any relevance to the coin in question and which would have been misleading. He also offers a full return privilege, and didn't have a trap-like minimum or reserve bid, or a lot of hype.
<< <i>I think a number of the criticisms of the listing are overly harsh and unfair.

I'm still trying to figure this one out. I sold a gold buffalo for $3500 and took paypal and I took the money out in less than 60 days. How do they know it was delivered?
I think what they mean is that the buyer has 60 days to file a complaint and if they do, they'll freeze your account. But the money may be long gone before then.
I looked at this guy's feedback and it does't look like the full blown scam that it appears to be--maybe it's a semi-scam and he's only going for a month of interest free loan before he returns all the money. Still a little unusual.

In order to obtain his funds and have the restrictions removed, the seller must fax Pay Pal documentation to substantiate his receipt and successful delivery of the items. This includes the invoices (from the mint) and tracking numbers as well as postal receipts. Once the items show delivery on the tracking receipts and all documentation is in order, the restriction goes in a queue for review, which currently may take 4 or 5 days. The seller is notified by email when the restrictions have been removed.
an acceptable way, to increase profit margin to 100%.

<< <i>Pay Pal has changed the rules regarding PRESALE items. Once an auction of a high priced item such as the AGE sets is complete, if the seller removes the funds, the transaction is reveiwed to ensure that the buyers have received their items. If not, the account becomes restricted from any removal of funds, and the seller's eBay account restricted from selling .

Look at this seller's recent auctions ..1.00 Sacs for 0.99 cents / with free shipping....... auctions last 1 to 2 hrs
The problem with possible phony sellers is .....that bidders will look for only established sellers ..the smaller sellers may suffer
My bet is this seller's in the same boat as everyone else just hoping the order will be filled.
The mint still has yet to make any cancellations as far as I can tell.
Happy Collecting!

Just for future reference, how are you able to tell what items the private auctions were for? I'd like to know that trick/feature.

Is this something new or only to do with selling the AGE sets? I am able to pull ALL the money out of my PayPal account the minute the auction ends and I am paid.

Not sure if that means the buyer actually received it, though.
