Let's brainstorm Halloween costumes inspired by US Coins...

These could be suitable for answering the door on Halloween night or representing one's coin club at a Halloween parade.

Numismatic heritage:
Gold miner
Wells Fargo driver
Pony Express rider (must include canvas mint bags)
New-mizmatist (take inspiration from the tv commercial)
Mint Police officer
World's Oldest Pioneer

Numismatic inspiration from coin designs:
Statue of Liberty
Peace Liberty
Double Eagle Liberty
An eagle
A buffalo
Sacagawea

Anything else come to mind?

  • Lincoln and Sacagewea remain popular costumes.

Coins can also make a nice accessory to other costumes, such as pirates wearing a necklace holey coin, preferrably a piece of eight, but anything can add to the effect. Some costumes require too much explaination and would only be appreciated at a coin party.

You could go as a Kennedy Half - You could even make it a dothead variety

Or, I'm sure you could modify about any witch mask to be the Shriver Olympic Dollar image

I don't suggest you go as Tangaroa though

I have two girls. If we did Halloween, I'd dress one as a hotlips and the other as a scarface.

  • Hobo, yes, and pirate - perhaps the character most commonly associated with coins.

Over the next few years all of the first ladies and presidents can join the list.

If it was a club meeting, one could go as a coin doctor.

I thought I might dress up as MadMarty or Russ but I'd get tired of hearing people ask me "Who you sposed to be?"
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Go as MadMarty's avatar coin. "Is that a roll of Saints in your hat or are just happy to be trick-or-treat'ing?"

are there any coins with ghosts on them?

There are many coins with a "ghosting effect", but none that I know of that portray ghosts themselves.

I really wanted to show a picture of some Bust coin with a ghosting effect, for obvious reasons. Unfortunately, I couldn't think of any.
