on all coins.
anacs can be,or has been pretty tough/strict with grading some series compared to ngc who i usually
think overgrades their stuff by atleast one point to pcgs.
anacs vs ngc?
ngc is bigger in the market than anacs but the fact that anacs will not body bag but slab your problem coins with a net grade
where i dont think ngc or pcgs will do that that often...
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
I generally dislike AU NGC coins because most are scrubbed and lacking luster. With ANACS you have a better chance of getting a highly lustrous and orig coin imo. NGC slabs too much marginal stuff.
But the flip side is that the NGC coin has more saleability and liquidity. Go try to sell ANAC'S coins that don't bark "undergraded" and see how hard they are to sell as a rule. I've tried selling ANACS barbers, seated, gold, commems, and even bust, and I can assure you there is a prejudice against them. The blue sheet pricing continues that by listing ANACS coins at inferior prices.
I trust ANACS more. But I have to evaluate the coin closely before I'll plunk down any money for an ANACS coin these days. It must be high end, totally unmessed with, or a flipping bargain to take a shot.
Gold coins have less risk but even selling ANACS MS64 Saints or Common date Morgans is a pain in the butt. Those are always the hardest to sell.....and so easy to buy.

why? personal experience and judgement based on small numbers. I've never done a large enough survey...BUT
fact:
ANACS coin #1 rejected by NGC for environmental damage, holdered by PCGS same grade as ANACS
ANACS coin #2 rejected by both NGC and PCGS as cleaned, resubmitted to ANACS for evaluation (with documentation from NGC and PCGS) and STILL graded as an un-fooled with coin (the coin was OBVIOUSLY fooled with).
I will no longer buy an ANACS graded coin unless I can view it in person, even if there is a return policy because I'm just not industrious enough to take the chance. Had ANACS been honest with me and acknowledged the coin was cleaned, I'd be a lot more comfortable with that company. I am not.

<< <i>Depending upon the day...time...lighting...personnel...phase of the moon...whatever...PCGS, NGC, and ANACS all rate the same in my opinion. I've seen properly graded coins in all three holders as well as improperly graded coins in all three holders. These days...I think it's something of a draw. The final decision on any given coin, in any given grade, in any given holder is up to the person buying it. Leo >>

That's the real answer.
PCGS, for me, probably 90 percent of the time is the answer.
ANACS grades more consistently than NGC.
NGC grades some marginal coins that ANACS would net grade.
NGC holders bring more money than ANACS holders.
Which do I trust more? It depends on considering all four of the above.
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
I think they're about the same. However, NGC does seem to award super grades far more often than ANACS. I don't know if there's anything to this.

hit and miss................
and also i agree with what roadrunner said especially so the au comment with regards to ngc
I've had enough bad experiences with trying to cross high grade ANACS coins that I shy away from them. The last 3 I picked up to cross came back altered surfaces, stained, and AT. I was lucky to only lose a little on that bunch. ANACS has more to learn there or NGC needs to get a thicker skin. For what its worth I sold all 3 of those in the ANACS holders to TOP retail dealers who like to resubmit. No doubt they were going to try for upgrades or crosses.

I would choose ANACS, but I admittedly don't follow seated/barber coinage closely, and I base my statements on my experience with circulated large cents...Mike
