1902 Gold Louisiana Commemorative? From 1937 Magazine Article

Found a really cool article titled "Money on the Make" by Arnold Nicholson about commemoratives from the March 13, 1937 Saturday Evening Post. The copyright where I got it says I can't post the PDF file, but can e-mail it individually for personal use. PM me if you want the file for personal use (2.4 MB).
Anyhow, at the bottom of the article, it lists the commemoratives that are out there and I noticed a 1902 Gold commemorative. I could only find the 1903 Louisiana commem. Anyone know what happened to it?
I found this with a google search. That might explain the confusion, I just find it funny that an article written 34/35 years later still references two different dates.
The 250,000 coins authorized by Congress (plus 258 pieces for assay) were struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The first 75,080 pieces were produced in December, 1902, followed by the remaining 175,178 in January, 1903.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

That certainly makes sense, or the author could have looked at old mintage reports and saw the two different runs (Dec '02 and Jan '03) and just assumed, but the rest of the article didn't seem like it comes from someone who would assume.
With 215,000 of the 250,000 minted eventually melted down, I thought it might be possible some rarity got overlooked... Would be interesting if one did pop up years from now though.
