Does anyone have background on the FTC Regulations that Harvey Stack argued against in 1990-1991?
I was reading the bios of the Stack's group last night. In Harvey Stack's bio, it contained the following:
"He served as President of the Professional Numismatists Guild in 1990-91. During this tenure as President, Harvey effectively defended the PNG and the industry from proposed Federal Trade Commission regulations which he felt were inappropriate for responsible professional numismatists."
Does anyone know more of the background of these proposed FTC regulations? Why exactly were they inappropriate for professional numismatists? I think the coin industry is like the Wild West and needs more regulating, so I am curious what this was about. Does anyone know of any PNG press releases or testimony that deals with this matter?
