Pewter Libertas Americana / Think it went for strong money or not ?

“A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly."

Would have to be a restrike due to the composition, pewter .

I don't know, but $600 wouldn't have gotten you too far at the Ford auction.

I was referring to the dates on the reverse being normal.
I read an article about a proof one in Numismatist recently.

<< <i>Even Ford had one! >>
I didn't remember that! Still, that was $747.50 all-in.

A heavily reproduced medal. If it is pewter, it must be some sort of restrike and that one sold for way too much. You got me on this one. I even think that the Ford example was overpriced.
a) the large size in Ford XIV, which went for about 750 as mentioned. "1976" date on obverse. Struck to order by the Paris mint for First Coinvestors in 1975.
b) the Paris mint restrike in silver, perhaps worth 100? From transfer dies. 1776 on obverse.
c) the Paris mint restrike in gold, worth about 1400 tho originally sold for over 3K. From transfer dies. 1776 on obverse.
Could be others as well. With the popularity of this medal, it seems time for another restrike edition.
