Hmm...

I was looking for junk silver on the Bay of e and I found This
The auction doesn't say anything at all about the coin, other than to say that it's silver. From the picture the strike is really weird looking and it doesn't seem to have a date on it.
I also saw 2005 silver buffalo from the same seller, it had COPY stamped on it but pretty much no description. It also didn't say anything on the coin about it being silver.

So does this even look like silver?

Cheers, Jessie L.

  • I think it's kind of disingenuous to call this a Peace Dollar. It's obviously not one. I guess calling it a "Peace Dollar Silver Round" is how he can get around that..

I'm no expert, but it does look like silver to me, FWIW.
If you haven't noticed, I'm single and miserable and I've got four albums of bitching about it that I would offer as proof.

The "In God We Trust" on the obverse looks very odd....

  • looks like a silver round, buy it as such, not a peace dollar which is 90%.
  • Auction looks fine to me as it is just what the seller calls it. A silver round with the peace dollar based design on it. I have several and also a couple that are based on the morgan dollar design.

Seems OK - a Peace Dollar - design silver round. Stamped .999 on the reverse - it is what it is.
  • Story seems to check out. You could probably successfully win these kind of items very close to spot price after shipping. BUT- since you are going with ebay, looking at items an oz. at a time, AND a member of this forum, I suspect that you will be happier just picking up the junk silver that you set out for. I always love the extra thrill of searching through a tube.

Thats cause the designer used a "U" instead of the "V" which is what is on the original.

Its just a silver round, nothing to get excited about.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
