At least it appears that the seller has a picture of the coin in hand. I feel less uncomfortable with that type of listing than many of the others I have seen.
1. Photos clearly not stolen from an auctionhouse or other online catalog. 2. everyone has to be a new account sometime. Hey, maybe it's a YN???? 3. In a case like this if I wanted the coin I might bid $1000 and then take the Paypal Opional buyer protection which I think goes up to $1000. 4. Another option which I like is escrow. I might contact the seller and ask how he feels about splitting escrow costs since he has 0 feedback. His answer might clue you in on whether he is a scammer or not. Unfortunately, it's only 30 mintutes until the end so that might now work now.
Not all new sellers are scammers---everyone was a new 0 feedback seller at one time or another. At least it appears that the seller has a picture of the coin in hand. I feel less uncomfortable with that type of listing than many of the others I have seen.
Mark has it right-i would bid on it if i wanted that coin at this time. Zero feedback newbies can work either way--legit-you may get a bargain, or not legit-you get scammed. He does accept paypal - so you would have some recourse if he failed to deliver said product. I would not call this one a scammer just yet. JMHO. Bob
I agree that there's nothing wrong with buying from a new seller, except in this case there's something fishy:
Q. why sell a key date pcgs coin in your first auction? A. because it will bring a lot of money and he is going to jump in and out of ebay quickly
Q. why make it a 3 day auction?? A. the sooner he gets the $, the better
Q. he states that this coin has a greysheet price of $2,100. Why sell it on eBay with a 3 day N/R auction? A. he is crazy. That's a commodity coin and very liquid. He could get bid all day long for that coin from any dealer.
The above Q&A is just a hypothetical. I am not accusing the seller of being a crook. This is just my thought process to be suspicious and this auction has many bad signs. I mean, if you were starting a new account, wouldn't you list your $5 and $10 coins first? Just to get 10 so feedback and maybe a month under your belt before dumping a $2K coin?
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony. Will’sProoflikes
we should keep an eye on this transaction and see if it comes to fruition.
I never would have considered selling on Ebay, nor expect to get reasonable bids with a zero feedback. Sure everyone needs to start somewhere, but this smells fishy.

Seems to be those without experience on ebay that are often quickest to point out or suspect scams. Note that the bidders on this auction were all seasoned ebay professionals. --Jerry

Actually, didnt even bother to look, because I wasn't going to accept it anyway since I knew at least one of the two people who bid above me wouldn't just back out
But, I just looked, and of course no message in my "My eBay"

Zero feedback seller, joined eBay 3 days ago. Lovely.
3 day listing (don't give people too much time to research it)
Smells like a scam. It's a serious roll o' the dice, but if it is just a clueless newbie, a bargain may be had...

<< <i>Just not the kind of thing to buy from a zero feedback seller with 3 days on eBay. It is tempting, though, isn't it? >>
If you're tempted go for it with the protection I've suggested above. Not my series. --Jerry

Not the series for me, either.

Personally, I think there is some risk on this auction, thus i recommend using protection. But I don't agree with your logic. --jerry
.....jumped $1,000 to $1,800 in the last 3 seconds. Hope it works out for the high bidder.

If he had other coins up for auction.
The last PCGS MS64 32-S that sold on Heritage went for $1,725 with the juice on Sept. 16, 2006 with other going for a little more this year.
I hope this auction is a good one ...
Myself for possibly a couple hundred more I know I would sleep better at night ...
It's good to know seasoned ebay profesionals can't get scammed
Hmmmmmmm
<< <i>Just got a 2nd chance offer for the coin at my $900 bid

That likely has nothing to do with the legitimacy (or lack thereof) of the seller.

Geeeesh.
Play along and see what happens. I am guessing that he will want you to send the money via Western Union.
My guess is that he will sell the coin to all of the underbidders at their high bid via second chance offer, then take all of the money and run.

THE Ebay crooks must be getting more brazen ...............the holidays are coming
I also received a scam 2nd chance offer this week.
Just be careful out there, way too many crooks.
