You need to press the little tulip symbol on your camera to get to macro. Also, make sure that you set the function for the right lighting condition (tungsten, florescent, etc.). Then use zoom to focus on the coin. Do you have a tripod? If not, you may want to rig some books and use the 2 or 10 second delay to get a stable picture. Just trial and error really. You can do it!!
Use lots of lighting since these camera's focus better with lots of light.

Yes, the distance is important. You need space between the camera and the coin to get a good focus.
<< <i>i got a really good picture of the front and a decent one of the back. thanks for the help. my pics are 1100 by 1200 pixels after crop though, where should i upload them to so i can post? >>
What's the file size? Take a look in windows explorer and check the file size. Do you have any image editing software (Adobe, Corel, etc.)??
Edited to say: your white balance is a bit off.
heres my pic of the back not as great of a pic and not sure why the coloring is diff.
thanks for the help, is it a legitimate 64 like the pcgs label says?
Looks like it could be a 64 to me. One final tip: your camera was upside down when you imaged the reverse. Might want to flip it over.
