"pcgs will offer special First Strike/20th Anniversary Set inserts for these coins subject to the following special limitations: 1. All coins must be submitted in the original, unopened Mint packaging as received from the Mint within 30 days of the original release date (check with our Bulk Department for exact dates). Because the 2006-W $50 Proof and 2006-W $1 Proof coins were already issued earlier this year, the packaging must remain unopened for these coins to qualify for these special inserts. 2. Individual submissions of coins 1b, 1c, 2b, 2c, 3a, and 3b (see above) will qualify for First Strike/20th Anniversary Set inserts as long as they are received within 30 days of their original release dates. 3. Individual submissions of coins 1a and 2a will not qualify for First Strike/20th Anniversary Set inserts. 4. Depending on when the various sets begin shipping, there may be some time overlap between coins 1c and 3a (the 2006-W $1 Mint State) and 2c and 3b (the 2006-W $50 Mint State). In case of overlap, the time “window” for the First Strike designation on one or more of the sets may be limited to the time left in the 30 day period for the sets that are shipped first. Example: if the 3-piece gold coin set begins shipping on September 25th, the cutoff date for First Strikes will be October 24th. Subsequently, if the 2-piece set begins shipping on October 10th, the cutoff date for First Strikes will be October 24th instead of November 9th.
Following the expiration of any First Strike/20th Anniversary Set dates, pcgs will continue to designate coins from the 20th Anniversary Sets as long as the coins are received in the original, unopened, Mint packaging."
If I understand the PCGS guidelines the time has passed to get a First Strike on the Proof Silver and the Unc. Silver. The Rev. Pr. should still be eligible until around 11/13.
Why in the world would anyone want this so called first strike designation label on their coin? It means absolutely nothing to the looks of the coin. It is the grade that counts. The assumption that dealers and investors make is that this LABEL will somehow increase the value of the coin. That is stupid, and any collector who thinks like that should reevaluate WHY they collect coins. We all know what first strike coins REALLY are. They represent the very first few coins struck from a new die. Because of that they may have really sharp strikes. The older coins that had cameo effect don't play in any more because ALL modern coins are deep cameo. I do not believe that in future years collectors will pay one cent more for a modern coin that has a label saying first strke. JMHO. Steve
I think it is for any unopened sets received by the 25th of October, after that only the Reverse will be eligible, and that will be only until 11/13, but your best bet is to make double sure by calling PCGS--but i am 99% positive the 10/25 date is correct for the other 2 coins in the set.
I believe the release date was October 12th which would give you a shipdate up to Nov 12th to get the First Strike designation on all three coins. Provided of course that they are in the original, unopened mint shipping container.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

The statement below would indicate that the Unc. in the 3 coin Silver Set will not be eligible because it was released with the 2 coin set, 30 days ago.

The statement below would indicate that even if the box is sealed, FS is still only good for the first 30 days.

These are conflicting statements. PCGS needs to clarify the First Strike policy for the Silver Set.
