Kent, Ohio coin show report

I went to the Kent coin show today and had a blast!!!

There were about 20-25 dealers there, and a lot of interesting material. There were a lot of Morgans and Peace dollars. A couple 1795-1803 Bust dollars. Plenty of raw key date Lincolns and Mercurys. Some cool looking(but raw and hairlined) 1800's proof seated coins, and an awesome proof shield nickel. There was plenty of raw gold and a few dealers had slabbed gold.

I picked up the following VAMs. 1891-O Vam 1A G-4, 1899-O Micro O G-4, 1921 Vam 1A MS-62, 1921 Wide Reeding MS-62 PL and G-4, 1926-S Vam 4 AU-58, VF-30, and F-12. I also picked up this rainbow end-roll toned 1964 Kennedy half graded MS-66 by PCGS.

I cherrypicked two 1963 B reverse Washington quarters in MS too.

I saw a couple Accented Hair proof Kennedys but they were hairlined and spotty.

Overall, I had a great time and picked up some nice coins.

  • Sounds like this is a nice show for the people in the area. Doesn't look like you did bad either. Any of the dealers mention what customer traffic was like?

It was pretty slow all day. It might have been busier if it had been advertised in Coin World and Numismatic News.

Do you know if that show at Machauds in Strongsville that is typically about this time of year is going to be happening?

Never checked out that Kent show.....

Need to go to a coin show soon however.....

Haven't heard a thing about Michauds. It seems to be very sporadic.

That brings me back to the days of the early 1970's when Ambassador Henry Norweb, his wife Emory Norweb and I actually went to a few coin shows in the Cleveland area together!!!

    Doesn't anyone remember those days?

Nice pick ups! I like the 91-O VAM-1A. It is amazing that we can cherry them is the lowest grades. I recently got one on eBay from Greg on here in FA-02! The clashed is bold as ever too.
