Holy smokes! 1921s don't usually have color like that! VERY awesome!!

    MS63 from me

Edit: That's the kind of coin where seeing it in hand could easily swing the grade by 2 points, given the nature of the lustre and cracked toning

Nice coin, pass on the grading. With that toning pattern, I wouldn't even guess without seeing it in hand

    Oh, heck, I'll guess MS-64

That's not a coin you see with color every day. Nice.

    I'll guess 64...Mike

I have 5 21's with color and this one, by far, is the most colorful.

But the grade on lable really bothers me.............

Excellent coin ibzman. I'm going with 64.

PCGS-62. I counted 6 contact marks in the focal area of the obverse and stopped.

The green......... I've finally seen that color in hand.

I've always thought colors like that were fabricated. image

    62 no ...................64 yes.........................65 is a stretch.

As stated earlier I like the color but I don't like the grade.

Now if I had 64 money in the color/coin, I'd be a happy camper.

Q: What should I do if my coin is labeled incorrectly?
A: PCGS will correct, free of charge, any mislabeled coins. Please fill out a submission form, mark "Other" as the service level, write in "Mechanical Error" and include a short note on the form describing the mistake.
    Q: Well?

wow, the grade does surprise me. I like the color, you definitely have a unique 1921 coin.

Damn shame I can't return it.

The coin resides in a registry set and was sold by a new auction house that is owned by a seller of none widgets.

I would think between the consigner and the auction house some one would point out that a mistake was made at the plastic factory.

I have to admit I collect error slabs but paying $500.00 more then the coin is worth just to get the plastic is a bit of a stretch, even for me.

<<The obverse has pretty "spider web" type toning in shades of violet/green/navy colors. The reverse has a touch of gold and is untoned. Both sides appear fairly clean and lustrous. >>

I should have walked away after reading the auctioneers vague description. My favorite part is "The reverse has a touch of gold and is untoned. "

Now Herbie is left holding the bag.

    Bought at Auction..............all sales final.

Looks like at least a 65 which may have received a bump for color and exceptional luster.

with better lighting that coin would be really cool looking.

So, you think it's overgraded, is that it? The obverse is 66, so I thought the reverse would bring it down to 65, thus my solid 65 guesstimate. With pcgs, a great reverse will not raise the grade, but a poor one will lower it, yet this coin escaped that fate. Is the obverse toning pattern making you and some others see something that is not there? 62?imageBe happy, it's a wonderful coin.

Lighting issues have been a problem for me since day 1............any ideas??

    Here is my set up.

2 lights and a 3rd that I hand hold behind the camera, I don't use the 3rd light every time, maybe I should have used it this time.
