This is not my coin... I wish it was.... It'll be the largest die break known on a 21'...

Holy Schnikee's! I don't think I have to check any of my '21's. That blob is so large it just couldn't be overlooked with even a casual look. I know I've never seen anything like that on a '21....and I've looked at a lot of '21's. I'm just a touch concerned about what maybe looks like incuse areas around the lump...raising the spectre that metal was shoved up into that formation from the surrounding areas. A true die break would raise up off the device and not have any shallowed out area around the break. Hope it's the real deal. We need another big die break to look for.

The loss of design around the blob suggests that if this is a feature on the die it was dug out of the die with a build up around the dig. Could be tooled displacement of metal on the coin or a residual mount from a jewelry application. Leroy will figure it out. Interesting one for sure. A true break usually looks like metal piled on top of the device or field without disturbing the adjacent design.

That is why I asked....very interesting indeed. It looks like post mint damage to me due to the area surrounding the raised metal. A die break on a '21 would be something to get excited about though.
