ASE Not Sold Out?

RichRRichR Posts: 3,985 ✭✭✭✭✭

I still don't understand how these sets are not (officially) sold out yet...it defies logic.

I just received my first order of 5 (placed on the first day), and an order placed by my wife for 5 more on 10/1 is still pending (but not yet reserved/guaranteed).

With the gold anniversary set a quick sell out, I thought the silver sets would be pushed to the limit even sooner.

However, if the set is actually sold out, the Mint may have been accepting excess orders for weeks...setting many people up for a major disappoint come the holidays?!?

I just don't understand this one.

I think the maximum mintage was set too high.

    Should've been 100,000 rather than 250,000.

Gold set production: 10,000 (limit of 10 sets per person)
Silver set production: 250,000 (limit of 10 sets per person)

Had they opened up the limit, I might agree with you, but the limit combined with the production is keeping it from selling out.

I just helped the cause. I had my wife order 10 sets today.

Which also points to the fact that the gold limit per order/household should have been set much lower on a relative basis.

But back to the silver...I'm thinking that distribution of the holiday catalog will nudege it over the edge.

.........and yet people are paying $160 or more for these sets on eBay. Go figure.

If I ordered 10 sets, they'd sell for $95 on Ebay!

If they are enforcing their fine print, she needs to have a different billing address on her card than you do or they'll cancel her order.

The Mint's ability to enfore their limit policy is spotty at best. I've had second orders placed by my wife (and in-laws, neighbors and even the family dog) cancelled on some occasions, but not on others.

Having a different shipping address for the second batch also helps to slip through the net!

I also live in a large apartment building...whenever my order is cancelled by the Mint for "same address purposes" I'm usually able to flim-flam my way around that..."Must be another person in the building ordering...I don;t know them!"

And I wasn't speeding either, officer...

Does that make me a bad person?!?
