Nice half cent

1793 half cent "Double Die"

I notice the seller has apparently never sold anything before.

He does have a double money back authenticity guarantee (wooo!). I could definitely use the extra $20k I will get back from him when it turns out to be a cast copy.

Looks to me like someone used a genuine Cohen-2 to make the mold, but the coin slipped during the process, accounting for the doubling.

Definitely has the surface look of a cast counterfeit. Although some pourus copper can take on that look too.

One thing I do know is any seller selling a genuine one of those and who puts so much effort into providing so much textual information shoudl have also considered putting up a lot of detailed images of the coin. The fact that there is no reserve even with such deficiencies tells me the seller doesn't have the real thing. Looks nice, but have to be skeptical. Oh, also the typo in the double money back looks too convenient.
