Do you need to sign for the ASE?

Nobody is home during the daytime so how would I pick it up? Do they only use FedX? I put I only wanted standard mail.

You have to sign. You can pick it up at a Federal Express, "express" service place. You'll have to call the number on your door tag. It's voice recognition this so keep saying 'customer service', you'll get connected.

Ask them to hold the package. Make sure you find out where the pack is.

Or you they will try to deliver the next business day.

Have you never purchased something insured through the mail? If you do need to sign, and you're not home, they will leave a slip in your mailbox (USPS) or on your door (FedEx/UPS). You then take the slip to your local post office or FedEx/UPS depot, and sign for it there.
