<< <i>I see sellers asking as much as $200.00 a set on Ebay. Pretty dumb if you still can order them from the mint. >>
yep! I cannot believe the laziness of eBay biiders who would prefer to wait for a pre-sale item there than order there own from the mint. I ordered 2 sets (one to keep and one to sell) and when I went to list the one I was selling I looked at completed auctions and relized the stupidity on eBay and I just listed both sets for $185 each. I figure I'll just get one more set from the mint. It will be a wait but I'm patient.
Update: One set sold and was paid for this morning at my asking price, lol, I guess I'm just still amazed by some of the things that go on on eBay. Maybe I'll order more than just 1 more set.
"From Time to Time the Tree of Liberty Must be Refreshed with the Blood of Patriots and of Tyrants"
I wondered about why people pay a higher price via another channel when the product can be ordered directly from the Mint if it is available. I asked a dealer about it a week ago at a coin show and he basically told me that some folks don't want the Government to know that they own silver and gold coins so they prefer to buy them somwhere else.
<< <i>The silver sets show still available and the mint reps are there ready to take your order....
BUT THEY ARE LONG GONE. THE MINT OVERSUBSCRIBED THE ISSUE JUST LIKE THEY DID THE AGE SETS.
They just don't have regard enough for customers to spell that out. >>
I believe just about everyone who ordered BEFORE the sellout notice was put up on the website got their sets. The AGE did not sell out until about 20 Hours later... (Which happens to be about when they put the notice up).

Look how much money is made by people without the creativity to actually check the mint?
I got my Ben Franklin commems for free that way.
Ordered 2 of each type of coin, and immediately flipped the 2nd coin on ebay for double the mint price.
If someone's willing to pay...

Are you a high ranking official at the mint or Dept. of the Treasury, or just making wild guesses?
