What the heck is going on with US Mint ship dates?

LanLordLanLord Posts: 11,756 ✭✭✭✭✭
I have three open orders with the mint. Two orders for SAE 20th anniv sets and one order for SF mint coins.

For the last couple days, my last order for the SAE sets was set to ship on 10/8/2006 (they didn't) now they are set back to 12/15/2006

My other order for SAE sets were to be shipped on 10/12/2006. The now show "in stock and reserved".

The SF coins used to show back ordered until 12/15/2006. Then 3 coins were to ship on 10/12/2006 with one left to ship on 12/15/2006. Now they are all back to 12/15/2006.

What the FUDDERNUTTER is up with the US mint?

My SF proofs and uncs were listed to ship on 10/22, then 10/23, then 10/24, and then finally bumped back to 12/15/06. So guess I am not the only one!

You have to admit this is one of the busiest production years with the widest product variety offered by the mint that I can remember. I believe the Granite Lady SF mint issue did not get approved by Congress until June. Then you figure they had to mint the AE 20th anniversary coinage sets not to mention the buffalo .9999 gold coins. And now they are accepting orders for the special uncirculated 20th Anniv. single coins. With all of the belated additions to this year's production runs, it's no wonder that they are backordering on some products. But the biggest mint fiasco is yet to hit us with the introduction of the Presidential dollars in 2007 with the added burden of having to produce one golden Sacagawea circulating dollar for each circulating presidential dollar minted. Has anyone read about the surplus of Statehood quarters at the Cleveland Federal reserve? According to CoinWorld one of the major armored car delivery contractors has no more room for warehousing the most recent Statehood quarter releases. Wait until the dollars start shipping in 2007. It seems that once delivered the federal reserve armored carriers cannot return the coins to the treasury. The dollar coin act is the biggest crock from the mint since the 20-cent coin debacle of the mid 19th century.

I think you know the Congress and the President write our laws. (Although I suspect the concept came from the mint!!)
