2 piece Anniversary set

JulianJulian Posts: 3,370 ✭✭✭
I have just spoken with the US mint marketing division and suggested to them that they refund $110 to the purchasers of this set.

I would suggest any purchasers of this set to contact the USM on their toll free # or by mail and echo that suggestion.

I would be interested in any responses that you receive.

    Julian,

Excellent call!!! I would keep my 10 sets if they did that. Otherwise, they are going right back!

    I'm calling right now.

Just called and the supervisor tried to tell me there is a valid premium for the set. When asked what the difference in the coins were, I was told they are identical.

I told them I'd be sending my 10 sets back along with 4-5 other folks I encouraged to buy these.

This is a layup. SEND THE 2 COIN SET BACK -- buy the coins individually!

I'm sure the $110.00 per set could buy at least 2 tanks of gas, or, dare I say it, more eagles.
    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!

I would think that the rationable (snicker) folks at the Mint,

will learn something from the current plague of fiascos.

The funny thing is a few years back, when the Platinum coin series started, I had ordered several of the four-coin sets, which ultimately sold out.

I then had to plead with the Mint to send me the same coins, at the same price, individually packaged. This involved several phone calls and a couple of letters. Ultimately, so as not to lose a $25,000 sale, the Mint agreed.

Funny, how the 2-coin set is now consodered a "premium" product over the 2 individually packaged coins?!? That makes no sense.

If they refunded $100, then I think it would be cool.
The packaging is worth $2-$10, imho.

I think some greedy marketing person at the mint was especially stupid in this case and I hope that they get a poor review over it.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Good Luck !

I'm sure the mint will just break up the 2 coin sets and sell them as repackaged individuals when they get all of these 2 coin sets back. Let the mint swallow the costs. Hopefully it will teach them a lesson.image

If they can sell the small canvas bags for $8.95, then maybe they will sell the cases after they break up the sets? image

WOW: THE DUDES @ THE MINT DID LEARN SOMETHING!:

Seen this morning on the mint's website for 2 piece orders:

Orders have been taken that meet the maximum mintage level of 20,000 for the American Eagle 20th Anniversary Gold and Silver Coin Set. We will continue to accept orders in the event cancellations occur. Orders accepted after sell-out are considered “next in line,” and will be processed on a first-come, first-serve basis against any remaining inventory that may become available. The United States Mint CANNOT provide information on specific customer placement status either online or by telephone. If paying by credit card, please be sure the expiration date is not before December 31, 2006. If we are not able to fulfill your order, you will be notified that your order was cancelled. If you paid by check, you will receive a refund. As with all of our products, the United States Mint reserves the right to accept or reject orders in any combination or options it determines to be in its best interest.

Why they couldn't have done this for the AGE is beyond me. image
    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!
