US Mint limits online order tracking to registered users only

Effective today. Checked on an order this morning with no problem. Just tried to check on another order, and I have to log-in to access the data.

No big deal, but something everyone might want to know.

    You don't have to. I don't have a registered account, but buy from the Mint all the time.

    No, anyone could track an order with the number and last name. Placed orders by telephone, never had an account, but tracked the orders online. Now an online account is required.

    That's a good thing. Some people were posting their mint order numbers. With that and their last name you could get their order information.

    ?? You got me puzzled. I just went to the US Mint site, and checked my order status.... with no problem. And, as far as I know, I have never registered at the Mint web site. Although, I have ordered before in the past, and do receive their catalogs through the mail now since I have bought from them. BUT... I have never registered.....

    Anyone else having problems?

    No problem here, checked my order status with order numbers and last name as usual.

    I just tried it again and it didn't make me sign-in. image

    Perhaps they are testing a new module and I was just lucky enough to get caught up in the test. Other than that, I dunno. At any rate, I am registered now.
